The Altruism Issue
Kindness—love—changes everything. Because of God’s love, we have a future in a beautiful eternity in perfect bodies. That love manifests itself in our lives and we are in turn supposed to love others. Our love grows in their hearts and turns into faith in God.
Because of love, we are free. Because of love, in the midst of pain we are more than conquerors. Because of love, we have an unchangeable identity that no amount of uncertainty or poverty can shake.
1 Corinthians says that anything done without love is useless. You could hold a door open for someone or leave a five dollar bill in the vending machine, but if you’re doing it half-heartedly or just for attention, God says it’s about as useless as a cymbal solo.
