all about obo 2020

Call us visionaries or say we have short attention spans, but we’re already thinking about OBO 2020. Along with 2020 comes our eighth year of being around!! That’s right, I started OBO back when I was a glasses-wearing, black-velvet-jumpsuit-rocking 12-year-old homeschooler.

That’s where it’s at, yo!

I took about a month to really carefully consider and pray about continuing to print and sell OBO. I was really torn up about it but found a printer that could significantly lower our prices. It’s always been my dream to write, and I never imagined that I could be the medium through which other writing-loving girls/young women could be published.

So, issues will be $10 next year with free shipping!

Compared to $18 this year . . .

Booyah. I’m excited, and I hope you are too.

With that said, every year we have a theme. This will be our eighth theme (imagine that) and I’m being feely and calling it ELEMENTS. Basically, we’ll be looking at what makes up our Christian life. This includes:

  • Doing devotions {GROW}
  • Praying {INTERCEDE}
  • Worshiping God {WORSHIP}
  • Serving others {SERVE}
  • Encouraging others in the faith {EDIFY}
  • Ministering {WITNESS}

I am very excited to be taking another step towards making the magazine clearly Christian. When I decided to go down this path two years ago, it was scary, no joke. It’s easy to be a simple lifestyle magazine; that makes it easier to ask local coffee shops to sell or advertise. But I’m not called to be comfortable or a coward. I’m called to be brave. So, yes; that may look like running a Christian magazine in a country that is growing more and more hostile to the gospel. I call it a privilege to cling onto my freedom of speech while I can and use my words for good.

Along with the magazine theme, here’s what else you can expect from us in 2020.

OBO 2020

What do you want to see from us in 2020? Which issue are you most excited about reading? Are you going to get a magazine subscription?
