You Talk about What You Love

You talk about what you love. So, what do you love? Learn more at www.ohbelovedone.com.

Hi, pal! How’s your week been so far? (sighs because it’s Monday)

Well, let’s have a little chat. (nothing out of the normal with that, huh?) So, if we were sitting at a little table in a coffee shop, what would you want to talk about?

No, really! What are the top three things you know you’d find yourself talking about?

*cue the really good conversation suggestions*

(Narwhals)

(Pineapple) <———–🍍

(Endangered sea turtles) <——-🐢

Wow those were awful.

we talk about what we love.

If I’m at that table with you, you can know I’ll talk about my blog because I just love it so much! It’ll probably also come out that, because I love writing so much, I have countless unfinished manuscripts burrowed away like ingenious, priceless little moles in my computer.

we claim to love God.

When I was at camp, talking about God in everyday conversation was normal. It was refreshing. But once I came back to “the real world,” I remembered: we don’t talk about God. At school, we all assume everyone is saved. We talk about the piles of homework, the lack of time, the pressures of work.

(NARWHALS.)

Imagine what a crazy change we could start if we brought God back into our conversations. We could be such encouragements to each other. Just talking to other people could be an extra devo for the day.

(dude I could so use that)

The Old Testament talks A TON about telling other people about what God has done for them.

You have multiplied, O Lord my God, your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us; none can compare with you! I will proclaim and tell of them, yet they are more than can be told. —Psalm 40:5

So we should too.

But where is that in my life? How many people have I gone out of my way to remind of God’s goodness? *that moment when you’re convicting yourself*

so why don’t we talk about God more?

Maybe it’s because we’re scared to look weird. (I know I am!) Another reason is, I feel like if I just start doing this out of the blue, people will think I’m being fake or just on a spiritual high. And there’s a lot more reasons where that came from!!

This week, let’s take a stab at bringing God back into everyday conversations.

practical suggestions

  • Ask how you can pray for someone
  • Ask what someone is doing for their devotions
  • Ask for a Christian nonfiction book suggestion
  • Ask if you can share what God did for you lately
  • Ask what someone’s favorite attribute of God is (or share yours)
  • Ask what someone’s life verse is and start a collection
  • Ask what God has been teaching someone
  • Share what God has taught you
