Battle Cry for the Afraid

This is a battle cry for those who are afraid—for those paralyzed by fear.

Borrow this prayer if you’re living in fear right now. <3

Today, I choose not to live in fear.

As people prey on helpless children—

As pagan statues are erected—

As world leaders whisper behind closed doors—

I choose to believe that God will judge the wicked, that He will break down every idol, that He is the Lord of lords and King of kings.

Today, I choose not to live in fear.

As I doubt my own decisions—

As I panic over all the things I haven’t done—

As I grieve the things I may never do—

I choose to remember that God gives wisdom for all circumstances, that God guides my steps and numbers my days.

Today, I choose to remind those around me they don’t have to live in fear.

As they grieve, as they cry out, as they remember, as they dread, as they wonder, as they lose hope—

I choose to boldly proclaim the Gospel, which saves every broken heart and gives purpose to the purposeless. I choose to point them back to the God who denies no good thing from them that walk uprightly. I choose to trust every pain molds us into an image more and more like Christ.

Perfect love casts out all fear. Perfect love is the banner that flies over our heads as we—led by the Creator of the universe—fight against the principalities, against the powers, against the dark forces that rule our world.

Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
