FIRST podcast episode!! what is a Christian??

Hello, beloved ones! I am so excited to announce that we are moving the blog to a podcast format. I’ve held onto this blog for so long because my first love is writing and I didn’t want to lose that.

My dream was always for a publisher to read my blog and reach out to me for a book deal, but I know God can still work that out if He wants. Instead, I choose to be faithful and intelligent and change with the times.

Let’s face it: our attention spans are SO short now. In fact, few of you probably made it down to this sentence. Even me, little Lover of Reading Me, prefers podcasts to blogs because you can multitask while listening, unlike reading (believe me, I’ve tried; many tables have been bumped into).

You can find our podcast on Spotify right now, and eventually, you’ll be able to find it on other podcast platforms as well. Please find us on Spotify (and later, the podcast platforms) by looking up Oh Beloved One podcast and subscribe, plus leave a rating. That means the world to me!

In case you want the outline form, here ya go.

What is (and isn’t) a Christian??

  1. Christians don’t just believe God exists.
    1. James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
  2. Christians aren’t just moral.
    1. Matt 7:22-23 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
  3. Christians don’t just do good things.
  4. Christians don’t just believe the Bible is a good book.
    1. 2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
    2. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
  5. Christians do present their lives as a living sacrifice.
    1. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
  6. Christians do believe that Jesus is God incarnate, His perfect Son, who died and rose again for us.
    1. Romans 10:9 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
    2. Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
    3. Acts 16:30 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
  7. Christians do believe the Bible.
    1. Our interpretations may be different.
  8. Christians do have an outpouring of good works.
    1. Matthew 5:17 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
    1. Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
  9. Christians do use biblical morals to construct their lives.
